
Organic Vegetarian for Healthier Children
Organic living and positive thinking enable Mrs Low and her family to live empowered life. Her daughter’s request turns Mrs Low into an organic vegetarian.
“My daughter was only 3 then. One day, she requested to have a taste of the fish. At the same time, she also posed a question: Why is mommy eating the fish? The fish will die, she pleaded her mother to be a vegan. Mrs Low was happy to know that her daughter was very compassionate and promised her plea. Until one day in the following year, she asked me again, “Why is mommy cannot be a complete vegetarian like me?” This was the awakening word five years ago. Mrs Low decided to be a total vegetarian.
Over a decade ago, Mrs Low has come to know about organic, and started consuming organic food from wheatgrass powder, alfalfa and raw food diet, and gradually shifted into an organic diet. Before that, her eating habit has no difference with many people. She liked foods with lots of flavours, and always consumed fried, deep-fried, stir-fried foods. But half a year later, she found her body condition has improved a lot due to organic dietary. She did not feel tired often, so she learned that only natural food can bring us health.
Ever since her two children were born, most of their foods were organic except the initial breast milk. Almost all of the vegetables, fruits, food, beverages and seasonings at home are organic, and BMS Organics is her main supermarket in life. What is unusual is that, the career woman insists to prepare a healthy breakfast daily for her children, and cook a meal of 10-grain porridge on Sunday for them.
Mrs Low manages both work and family well. What gives her such good energy to be a great mother? She says, all the strength come from "organic".
"We drink Green Balance Wheatgrass and Barleygrass drink, fruits & vege juice or energy soup daily. I will also prepare health beverage like 5-grain Oat Milk Energy, O’kid Oat Milk or Organic Soya Milk for the children. 10-grain porridge has a mixture of over 10 types of grains and different kinds of vegetables such as carrots, French bean, tofu etc, I will mix it with Pre Balance Powder.”
Mrs Low said, although they eat in most of the times, they will also bring their children to dine out with the elderly. The children will sometimes want to try outside food, or try the titbits their classmates were having. Mrs Low was willing to let her children to try them when her children have such requests, so that they choose for organic without pressure. Although we all know that organic food is healthy, the indoctrination of children is to rely on education, not blindly pressure them.
"I am pleased that my children are healthy, and they themselves would choose to eat a healthy vegetarian diet, know about organic food, and what are the foods that contain additives, how to analyze if the food served to them is health food. They know the importance of life and become vegetarian voluntarily. As my daughter is already 9 years old, she would often tell her friends that organic food is healthy, and encourages other children to follow suit."
Apart from healthy dietary, the couple also emphasises on their children’s spiritual growth. They will accompany their children to swim, visit organic vegetable farms etc during weekends, so that they have more chances to get close to the nature, and accompanying them to learn about environmental conservation.
Mrs Low added, she is progressing step by step over the decade, to establish her spiritual mindset. "Thanks to the farmers who have planted pollution-free food, enable me, my husband and children live healthier, have better physical strength."
