Bug’s Paradise Organic Farm

"Zero Pollution"
No chemical fertilizers or pesticides are used in an organic farm. So you can get up-close and personal with many different types of farm bugs that are commonly found in vegetables. There are good and bad insects. And to control harmful pest population, natural means are used (like encouraging natural predators and insects that prey on bad insects).

"Nothing Artificial"
Chemical herbicide and pesticide are totally banned in organic farms. The fertilizer used here is naturally fermented from plant compost and other organic means, providing produce with complete nutrients and at the same time re-establishing the role of humus and other organic components of soil, organic fetilizers mobilizes existing soil nutrients. Good growth is then achieved where there is less wastage, soil moisture is retained, and topsoil erosion is prevented.

"Eco-friendly"
Everything in an organic farm is about 100% natural planting and fertilization. It is definitely good for the environment and is very educational to young children as they will be able to get hands-on experience about the workings and benefits of organic farming. By promoting organic farming system, we are working in harmony with nature – contributing towards human and environmental health as well as building a more spiritual and ethical human society.

Organic Farming Methods

Crop Rotation
Instead of mono cropping, crop rotation is used in organic farming. Crop rotation maintains soil fertility by returning nutrients to the soil without relying on chemical fertilizer. Furthermore, crop rotation is done not only to avoid depletion of soil nutrients but also to confuse the bad insects that eat the crops. Insects can be very particular about which vegetables they eat and by rotating the crops, the insects population can be reduced and controlled.

Soil Management
Creating healthy and fertile soil is important in organic farming, as it nourishes the crops, ensures healthy growth as well as resists disease and insect attacks. Bug's Paradise Farm uses quality compost and organic fertilizer to recondition the soil. The compost and fertilizer contain a high number of beneficial microorganisms that break down organic matters and release nutrients into the soil. In the long run, this is more sustainable and environmental friendly.

Pest control
We encourage natural planting without using net covers in order to grow produces with a stronger life for higher energy. But there is a risk that harmful insects may destroy a crop. Because of this, some of our crops are grown in green houses, which serves as an effective barrier against their harmful presence. In doing so, our environmental friendly farming methods have created a habitat for the growth of beneficial insects such as ladybugs and spiders which are the natural predators of pests.
